I heard about the Sketchbook Projects ages ago. I never really gave it a second thought. Well, yes I did. No way! I don’t know what made me enter this time. So… while I was waiting on supplies and the actual sketchbook to arrive I stormed. And thought. And went thru old pictures and took some new ones. And tried to remember were some favorite pics were. I got online and looked at books that had already been submitted. Basically, just tossed, turned, stressed and went sleepless!
Then my pencils arrived. There is a lot of background prep in any project before you can start working on the actual sketches so I began making color charts. With new media you need to become familiar with it. Learn what the colors are and how they mix with white or thinner and how they appear once blended.
Next had to sit down and decide if I was going to stick to a theme or just draw whatever. I’ve learned I need the guidance in directions so… I still haven’t put a name to it but I guess it would be “The Heart of Me”. “Things I love” without being quit that corny.
Next I made small thumbnails and planned out what was going to go on each page. In some cases I have done small sketches and in others I have just titled the pg. I’ve taken pictures of still lives I’ve set up so I could plan my pg. I’ll recreate the still life to draw from later but this gives me a more solid idea of what I will be doing not just am vague notion. In some cases I have chosen picture from which to sketch from in the case of drawing people that are distant so can’t be viewed for drawing from life sketching.
Lastly, I set up this blog. I still don’t know how to use it and I need to customize it but… it was a place to start.
I found this on amazon, One Sketch a Day Every Day For a Year. http://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/1493777513/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
